This has been the longest and loudest Diwali celebration fireworks session I've witnessed since living here.. it's been going for hours with a constant distant rumbling and the sky is glowing to the northwest as though Southall is on fire.

I keep meaning to go, but every year it catches me by surprise as it's on the new moon which shifts dates.. this time I've told google calendar to remind me the day before next year. ;)

I woke up briefly at 3.47am and someone near me was still setting off fireworks. There was an 11pm curfew last year (or maybe the year before) but that seems to have gone by the board ...

That doesn't surprise me, it didn't sound anywhere near finale time when I went to bed! There doesn't seem to be much notice taken of any kind of noise restrictions this year as in my neighbourhood the fireworks started before bonfire night and are still being set off nightly from some yard.
