I had a vivid dream that I was walking along the river, heading into East London. As I walked the day turned to night and buildings became more and more dilapidated, concrete crumbling and failing, flickering street lamps. I felt pursued, so I walked faster along the narrowing path which turned to dirt along the graffitied walls. Trees and plants were reclaiming the buildings; twisting through windows, entangling steel and shattered glass. The scent of decay and earth filled the air around me, but still I followed the river. The banks of the river became mud and the tower blocks turned into a dense, dim forest with twisted trees. I took off my shoes and felt dirt and moss under my feet and carefully stepped over fallen, rotted logs and jagged stones. I could see dappled sunlight streaming through tree leaves far ahead, past a bend in the river. I began to run, leaping over logs and slipping between tree trunks, but just before I reached the sunlight I awoke.

I don't vividly remember many dreams, but when I do they always seem to be packed with symbolism. I looked it all up in a dream dictionary, with heavy skepticism, and was startled at how accurate the interpretations were, whether by coincidence or not. I've felt emotional lately, so it's not surprising that it would manifest itself in dream form.

To dream that you are in a deserted city or that you feel alienated from the activity of the city, then it suggests that you feel rejected by those around you.

To see a city in ruins, denotes that you are neglecting your social relationships and allowing them to deteriorate.

To see a clear, calm-flowing river in your dream, signifies that you are allowing your life to float away and it is time that you take a more decisive hand in directing your life.

To see a muddy and/or raging river, signifies tumultuous times and jealousy in your life.

To see a wall in your dream, signifies limitations. obstacles and boundaries.

To see a falling tree in your dream, indicates that you are off balance and out of sync. You are off track and headed in the wrong direction.

To dream that someone or something is in pursuit of you, indicates that you are refusing to acknowledge a certain viewpoint or idea.

To see moss growing in your dream, indicates an extremely slow progress in some project or relationship. You need to be more patient.

To dream that you are in or walking through the forest, signifies a transitional phase. You may be following your instincts.

To dream that you are lost in a forest, signifies that you are searching through your unconscious for a better understanding of yourself.

To see something decay in your dream, signifies the degradation of a situation or circumstance. It may also represent the death of an old situation before the rebirth into a new stage.

To dream that darkness comes upon you, signifies failure in work you may attempt. You will overcome your failure if the sun breaks through the darkness.

To dream of sunshine, indicates that you are experiencing some sort of emotional or situational breakthrough. You are headed on the right track.

The stencil is by Banksy. You'll see a lot more of his work around the city when you get here.

That is fascinating not only because of the vividness of the dream, but the fact that you remember it all. I rarely remember mine...well, I harely sleep either (insomniac) so that might explain some of it. ';^)

The photo with the wall stencil makes it melancholy/powerful...good job.

ouph, insomnia sucks, I'm sorry to hear you have it.. I do sometimes too.

I don't remember as many dreams as I used to, but it seems when I do remember them they're significant.

Thanks, that stencil is one of my favorites in this city.

Thank you, that photo was taken on the South Bank, the stencil is on the foundation of a bridge that crosses the river. Part of the reason I posted it with this dream description is because I remembered my dream when I took the photo, it came flooding back to me at that moment.

What a strange dream you had about us.. I don't believe I've ever been in another ljer's dreams before, not that they've told me anyway.

I just read your e, I'll respond to you further there. :)

Hi there. I was looking around for people interested in Dead Can Dance and came upon your journal... Seems we have quite a few interests in common -- more than I've seen in a while. All the pictures you post are wonderful. Had to add you. Doesn't matter whether or not you reciprocate, and it's perfectly fine if you'd rather not -- just thought I'd make my presence known. :)

I'm a journalist, writing from Brazil. I'm gonna write on my weblog about Woody Allen's new movie, "Match point", shot in London and was looking for a picture of Banksy's girl with the red ballon to ilustrate it (this graff appears on the flick!).

Can I use your picture? Please, reply to falaurbe@gmail.com and let me know.
