Excuse my cramming everything messily into this post. I've been sick and quite frankly want to write about these last few weeks just to get it over with because I'm going to be very busy soon with Max's arrival on March 2nd. There's some deeper subjects I've been wanting to write about also, but they will have to wait for a few weeks.

The weekend before last our friend Beau and his new(ish) girlfriend, Cherise, visited from Anacortes. I've known Beau since we had our coffeehouse in 92' and used to date his friend, Jason. They're both excellent musicians (click their names to go to their music sites). Beau's talent grows and matures every time I see him. I liked Cherise a lot, she was very sweet. I hope that they visit again soon.

That same weekend my aunt and uncle, Greg & Mary, drove up from Carnation and spent the night two days in a row. It was wonderful as we don't get to see them much and they're so easy going and fun. We took a long walk on the beach and they joined us for a Moulin Rouge party our friends Ben & Gigi threw as a fund raiser for their local newspaper, Vigilance. They let Gael and me in on press passes, which was kind of them. The food was excellent, cooked by a friendly chef from London, Jerry. Funny how I could tell the food was cooked by a British man just by tasting it, I think the Indian influences and style gave it away.

The party was great fun, there were Can Can dancers and fire juggling. Everyone dressed up and it strengthened my desire to buy a corset. I love corsets as long as they aren't cinched to oxygen-depriving levels. I at least had fishnets and a feather boa to get into the Moulin Rouge theme with.

The next evening we went to a small dinner party at Mason and Adrienne's with Steve, Alix, Dave, and Ivy. Their house is circular with a large deck and a hole in the middle of the ceiling that looks up into large loft. A wood stove sat under the circle, allowing the heat to rise and distribute evenly throughout the house. Dave cooked halibut in hollandaise sauce, spiced acorn squash, and garlic bread. Ivy dipped strawberries, orange slices, and banana in organic chocolate. It was all heavenly, as usual. After dinner Gael, Ivy, and Alix all played the piano and sang. I will post a few photos from that evening sometime.

We've decided that these dinners are going to be a weekly thing. Last Saturday Dave cooked at Alix's for all of us. He made a spinach and parmesan tart with ceasar salad and pizza with smoked salmon in a dill cream sauce. Can you tell I love his cooking? I can't stop talking about it.

Next weekend when Max is here Dave is going to cook in our kitchen (finally!). He plans to make fresh tortellini. yum yum. :)

Anyway, here are photos from the Moulin Rouge party.

I thought it was a great idea, even though I've never seen the movie Moulin Rouge.

This coming week is going to pass incredibly fast. I haven't seen him in six months and I won't see him again for another six. I'm not sure if I'll be able to let him go.

I hope you feel better soon, btw. I'm happy you have friends there who are taking good care of you. :)

Hah. I almost didn't answer it myself. The answer I gave wasn't entirely accurate, but it was the closest available. It seems the older I get the less appealing the idea becomes, more psychological trouble that it's worth in a relationship (for me, not speaking for anyone else). :)

I'm actually not a big party person, but I'm glad I dragged myself out of the house for that one.

Yes, that's exactly why I don't want to move to a small town -- no social life. Quite unlike the megalopolis of San Jose where we're busy every night reading books. Sometimes we play videogames too!

That is one thing Port Townsend has going for it, no shortage of social events to partake of if you so wish. It feels much more like a city to me in that aspect, I sometimes forget there's only 8,000 people here (though add many tourists onto that).

I'm all for books and videogames! Those and working on my site/lj/the web are what I spend the majority of my time on. I am not a party girl 99.9% of the time. :)

It makes my life look a lot more exciting when I concentrate two weeks into a couple paragraphs. :)
